Born and raised in Costa Rica with a Masters degree in Architecture from the Architectural Association in London, UK (know for alumni such as Zaha Hadid & Rem Koolhaas), a BFA in Interior Design and a Certified Interior and Lighting Designer for Yachts from the Westlawn Institute of Marine Technology, USA. She worked as architect in Houston, Texas. The project Crane Worldwide (property of Jim Crane, owner of the Houston Astros) is amongst the most relevant. For this project, Maricruz was head Interior Designer and in charge of the office-floor plans for the 300,000 s.f. building which included a gym, basketball court, and a restaurant.
Her work has also received national and international awards, such as the Best Research Project at the 2012 International Architecture Biennale, San Jose, Costa Rica. More recently, she served as the Director of Peninsula Fine Arts by Klaus Steinmetz, the most exclusive, high-end, Latin American contemporary art gallery in the country, located at the Four Seasons Resort, Península Papagayo.
These experiences has given her the skills to work in complex problem-solving scenarios, under very high-demands of excellence, performance and quality for the most rigorous clients. She started working professionally with yachts and sea-side constructions several years ago, when she realized the need for a professional to be able to deliver a high-design/high-performance, land and water-based projects.
